Join the Volunteer Team
We are looking for volunteers to help support our trail participants at the inaugural Brighton Trail Weekend.
Come and gain valuable experience working at a mass participation event while taking in beautiful surroundings in the South Downs National Park and Stanmer Park Estate.
This is an inspirational and rewarding experience, helping to bring the event to life for thousands of runners. They simply cannot achieve their marathon, 10k or children’s event goals without our support team.
What Skills or Experience do I need?
Our volunteers will be provided with all the information needed to fulfil their role on the day. All you need to be able to volunteer with us, is a positive, hands-on attitude and friendly approach!
Having said that, some roles may require that you are able to walk for at least two miles to reach your volunteer position. As this includes a marathon trail event, some volunteer locations will be out in the South Downs and volunteers will need to walk to their station. This will be indicated on the role description before you sign up.
We will have a number of roles available across the week, which vary from helping with:
- Welcoming runners and their supporters to the event
- Assisting at Aid Stations and locations along the route with way-finding and runner support
- Participant Baggage support
- Motivating and cheering runners on and handing out medals
More info on the role specifics and how to sign up is coming soon!
In the meantime, if you’d like to register your interest, please fill in our online form here and we will be back in touch once roles open.REGISTER INTEREST
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Our participants take on their challenge for a variety of different reasons, from raising money for a cause close to their heart or to challenge themselves and make change in their lives. Without our volunteer team on-hand, their event would simply not be possible.
The added support, cheering, words of encouragement and friendly smile can also make all the difference to their day. Your presence can really help to spur them on to their finish line.
Every volunteer will get:
- a sustainable, official Volunteer T Shirt to take away with them
- discount on next year’s Brighton Trail Weekend events
- a hugely rewarding experience
- packed lunch, snacks and drinks throughout the day
GAIN EXPERIENCE AND NEW SKILLS
Working on a mass participation event like this means that you may experience challenges that you may never have to overcome or manage in your every day life or career, helping to develop your problem-solving skills and practical and logistical thinking. Working within a team of strangers will also help strengthen your people skills and confidence. It’s a great thing to put on your CV!
No doubt that standing in a field or on a hillside for several hours, or experiencing the emotionally-charged finish of a marathon with your fellow volunteers will forge new friendships and connections. And most importantly, have fun in the beautiful Sussex countryside and escape the every day.
